While we’re frequently blown away (read: openly weeping at our desks) by the gorgeous and emotional wedding videos we’re lucky enough to view, we’re always surprised that many couples choose not to hire a wedding videographer. We completely understand that videography is an added expense (the average cost of a videographer is $1,658, but it varies by your location), but we think it’s worth it if at all possible.

Here are some reasons why:

Capturing Movement and Sound Still photos provide an image of a moment in time, but wedding videos capture both movement and sound. With a wedding video, you’ll be able to hear your spouse gasp during your first look, your dad’s toast and your mom’s laughter. You’ll be able to watch your first kiss as newlyweds, your first dance, and your grandmother’s amazing dance moves. For as beautiful and artistic as still photos can be, they cannot capture motion or sound—which makes a wedding video a must-have.

The Emotion Factor It’s so important to hire a professional videographer who will not only capture the raw footage of your big day, but also edit it down to create an emotional movie, frequently set to music, that will truly tell the story of your wedding from start to finish. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry—it’s the closest thing to reliving your wedding day.

You Won’t See Everything—But a Video Will Capture It Your wedding day will go by very quickly, and unfortunately, you won’t be able to see everything. For example, you won’t be able to watch your flower girl walk down the aisle while you’re waiting in the wings. You won’t see your mother-in-law shed a tear while you’re saying your vows. You might not see your parents dancing cheek-to-cheek while you’re mingling with guests. But a videographer can capture these moments on film, and allow you to watch them as though you were really there, and see even more moments than you were able to on your wedding day.

Easily Shareable Nowadays, videographers are able to upload wedding videos onto platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo. This allows you to easily share your wedding video with loved ones (instead of lugging tapes or CDs to your grandmother’s house). Your videographer may also be able to create short clips for you to share on social media. It makes hiring a videographer ideal for those who are having smaller or destination weddings—you can help family members and friends who were unable to attend feel like they were actually there.

Watch it Again and Again While you can’t hang your wedding video on your wall and see it every day like you can with your photos, you can find special times to watch it and let the memories come flooding back. Host a viewing bash with your wedding party, or watch it every year on your anniversary. Your wedding video will make a special occasion even more special.

Kristin & Gabe’s love story…

“From the moment I saw Kristin I knew she was special. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had such a strong personality and witty sense of humor I may have never won her over. In all seriousness, I am so blessed that not once, but twice we crossed paths over the course of a couple months. Especially since my follow up wasn’t the best after our initial encounter.

Let’s start from the beginning, it was Memorial Day Weekend and there was a concert that we were both going to from mutual friend Justin Goellner (TEKsystems colleague). The concert was at a local bar in Old Town Scottsdale and I was going to one of my favorite bars before the concert began to have a few drinks and appetizers at El Hefe. She came in shortly after and all I could think to myself was “she is adorable.” After a few adult beverages I built up the courage to ask for a kiss, but I was respectfully declined! Which made sense since I just met her a few hours ago. We continued to have a wonderful afternoon and day and I told her I would take her to dinner later that week (for our first date). Unfortunately, due to my immaturity at the time, I dropped my phone in the pool and did not follow up with her the way I should have nor what she deserved. She calls me pretty dumb for not following up, especially since I worked with Justin who I could have easily gotten her number from once I got my new phone.

So life went on for the both of us and if it wasn’t by the faith of God or maybe the luck of El Hefe we may have never run into each other again. It was early August and I had the idea of having a DNO (Dudes Night Out) for all the guys in our office. We all chipped in and got a hotel and the plan was to go out and get table service at El Hefe which was honestly our favorite bar. The majority of the guys from office meet up at El Hefe and we are having a great time when I noticed that she walked in. That is when everything began to change for the better! She immediately hit my arm and said, “thanks for the dinner and the follow-up punk.” Rightfully so. I deserved being hit and I promised her this time I would not let her down and we would go out to dinner on that Wednesday. I had to make it on Wednesday as that was pay day and making very little money at the time. I had to make sure I had the funds to treat her to a nice meal. The night continued and we danced almost the entire night until the bar closed which was 2am, which meant we both had to go our separate ways. I made sure she got in a cab safely and as I was about to walk back to my hotel, when she called me immediately just to talk and see what I was up to. She was most likely calling to ensure I was staying out of trouble 🙂

Two days later our first date: I picked Kristin up from her apartment and we walked across the street to a nice restaurant called Hillstone’s in the Biltmore Fashion Park. Once again we caught ourselves closing the restaurant from talking and wanting to learn more about each other. I think we both could agree that we didn’t want that date to end. Which luckily it hasn’t!

Kristin and I have been inseparable since which could explain us moving in together about two months into dating. I think we both knew there was something special here! Kristin and I share a passion for finding new places to eat with craft beers and drinks. We both share so much love for our dogs Bailey and now Bevy. We may not have any children, but it sure feels like we do by the way we spoil our pups. They go on more adventures
